After an incredible 2006 racking up mileage in the new Capella 161, thought I’d take a moment to show a few photos and get everyone excited about 2007. Busting Through Wave at Skooks photo copyright Gary Luhm I spent a lot of time in 2006 paddling at several of the tidal races up the inside passage of British Columbia. Here is the classic green wave at Skookumchuck. Love this shot with all the reflections. The 161 has been a dream to surf. The perfect balance of rocker and volume distribution to stay nimble on the wave. Surfing the Green in the Capella 161 photo copyright Phil Tifo After moving from the San Juan Island in 2005 to Squamish British Columbia, I have not been spending as much time on the sea as the river. The good news is that hopefully I will be equalling out my time in 2007. I’m working hard at producing a new sea kayak film, Pacific Horizons, which has allowed me to dedicate an impressive number of days to paddling at some of the Northwest’s most sought after sea kayaking destinations this Spring and Summer. Here are a couple of teasers for the film that have appeared in the last couple issues of Kayak Journal. Tidal Race Teaser in Kayak Journal #3 Dubside Teaser From Kayak Journal from #2 More here soon!
