Last weekend the Northumbrian coast played host to a sea kayak demo event and the annual Coquet Island Race. Local coaching and guiding outfit ‘Active 4 Seasons’ arranged for several sea kayak manufacturers including P&H to attend.
Following a dull start on Saturday, the sun began to shine through onto ideal sea conditions for checking our some of the latest kayaks and kit. ‘Aries’, ‘Cetus’ and ‘Delphin’ were hardly off the water all day.
Sunday was race day. The annual 5.5 mile Coquet Island Race is a must for anyone interested in sea kayak racing. This event has a friendly and informal atmosphere but once the race is underway competitive nature takes hold.
Particular congratulations are due to ‘Dangerous’ Dave Brook, who arranged for a P&H demo ‘Cetus MV’ for the race. He won his category taking the title of ‘Old Man of the Sea’
